SECONDS - 2025 ADVENT | 24-stripe skein

Regular price €38,95 EUR

Mini-Skein Base

These skeins are seconds, meaning they will have a minor imperfection, such as:

  • 95% will have a knot, sometimes the yarn snaps when being reskeined
  • There may be a small section where the yarn is unevenly spun, usually this would knit up without being noticeable
  • A skein may be short yardage, in this case I believe there was only 1 skein and it is missing 1/2 stripe.

Seconds are offered at a 20% discount which is automatically applied at checkout

The Advent Skein is dyed on my 80/20 (Bliss) sock base which is 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon and will be approx. 120g. The skein comes split into two even half-skeins each with 2 full repeats of 24 stripes, each stripe is approx. 5-6 rows depending on your gauge. To have a finished pair of socks by Christmas Day you may need to knit more than one stripe daily, this depends on your personal gauge and the size you will be knitting.

Optionally; you can purchase a mini-skein on either of my 80/20 sock or 84/16 stellina sock bases to be used for heels/toes/cuff. This is entirely up to the individual maker, many makers choose to use a mini-skein from their stash or using just the striped yarn.

All sock sets come in a hank and will need to be wound into a ball/skein prior to use to avoid getting tangled.

Fingering Sock sets weigh approximately 115g, 85g stripes and a 30g mini-skein

DK sock sets weigh approximately 125g, 85g stripes and a 40g mini-skein

Care Instructions

I highly recommend hand washing your knit items in cool or lukewarm water using a pH-neutral wool wash to keep them looking beautiful for as long as possible.

I use colourfast acid dyes for dyeing my yarn and rinse until the water runs clear. However, there is a chance that some dye may bleed slightly during the first few washes. For this reason, I suggest washing your items separately, especially during the first couple of washes.

If you have them available, it’s a good idea to use a "colour catcher" (similar to dryer sheets), which can be found in the laundry section of most stores. Some dyes, especially highly saturated colours like reds, blues, or speckled skeins, are more prone to bleeding. This is common for both hand-dyed and commercially dyed wool.

Important: Avoid washing your items in hot water, as this can break the bond between the fiber and the dye, potentially causing bleeding.
